Procedure
An upper blepharoplasty, also known as an upper eyelid lift, is a cosmetic procedure to make the face appear more youthful. During this procedure, the surgeon will remove excess skin and fat deposits from the upper eyelids, allowing for a more “lifted” appearance. This is a relatively straightforward procedure and patients can enjoy the benefits without the need for an especially long recovery period.
Many patients seeking a blepharoplasty are not able to have it covered by their insurance. In this case, patients may consider this procedure with a Direct Specialty Care (DSC) provider. Smith Medical offers affordable plastic surgery to patients seeking transparent, quality care.
When is This Procedure Necessary?
Patients typically consider an upper blepharoplasty procedure if they experience cosmetic concerns related to their upper eyelids. Common issues that may prompt patients to seek this type of surgery include excess skin or fatty deposits that create a heavy or droopy appearance, resulting in a tired or aged look. Regardless of the reason for surgery, we believe that all patients deserve the right to accessible and affordable care.
What To Expect
Patients will have a consultation before the procedure to establish their goals with surgery. Patients will be under general anesthesia to ensure their comfort throughout the procedure. The surgeon will make marks on the eyelids to determine the incision spots. Next, they will make an incision along the new eyelid crease before removing excess fat and tightening muscles. Once the goal of the procedure has been achieved, the surgeon will close the incisions and the patient will be monitored as they wake up from the anesthesia.
After the procedure, patients may experience bruising and discomfort in the eyelid region for a week or two. Any pain is typically manageable through a course of anti-inflammatory pain medications.
