When is This Procedure Necessary?

Next, the doctor will insert a biopsy needle into the bone to collect the bone marrow sample. When the procedure is completed, the doctor will put a bandage over the incision site.
After the procedure, it is normal for patients to experience pain at the site of the biopsy. This is manageable through over-the-counter pain medicine or doctor-prescribed medications. Patients may feel tired or weak in the days following, but they should feel normal again shortly. Patients should contact their doctor if they continue to feel unwell after a few days pass. Patients can expect results within a few weeks.
