Breast Augmentation and Mastopexy (Lift) (w/Implants) Procedure

Breast augmentation and mastopexy is a surgical procedure to increase the size of the breast and lift them. These procedures are commonly performed together because many patients decide they want a combination of them when considering breast surgery. Breast augmentation involves placing implants to increase the size of the breasts, whereas mastopexy involves lifting and reshaping the breasts.

Many patients seeking breast augmentation and mastopexy are not able to have it covered by their insurance. In this case, patients may consider breast augmentation and mastopexy with a Direct Specialty Care (DSC) provider. Smith Medical offers affordable plastic surgery to patients seeking transparent, quality care.

When is This Procedure Necessary?

Patients may consider breast augmentation and mastopexy if they want to change the appearance of their breasts. During this procedure, the surgeon will place implants to increase the size of the breasts as well as lift them. Regardless of the reason for surgery, we believe that all patients deserve the right to accessible and affordable care.

What To Expect

Patients will meet with their doctor prior to the procedure to determine their goals with surgery. Patients will be under general anesthesia to ensure their comfort throughout the procedure.  The surgeon will make an incision in the decided area. Next, the surgeon will place the implants before reshaping the breast to give it a more lifted appearance. When the goal of the procedure has been achieved, the surgeon will close the incision and the patient will be monitored as they wake up from the anesthesia.

After the procedure, the patient may experience some swelling and discomfort in the chest region. Patients can manage this through a course of anti-inflammatory pain medications and antibiotics. In the first few days, patients will wear a bandage over the chest before switching over to a postsurgical bra for support. It is important for patients to closely follow all postsurgical instructions to ensure a successful recovery.
